Well almost. I am very excited to share with all you beer advocates, tonight I had the pleasure of witnessing the beta version of Tap Hunter iPhone app. For those of you not in the know, is a new online service that allows you to search for your favorite craft beer on tap at breweries, beer pub, local bars etc!
Although the service has been only available in metro San Diego during beta testing, Tap Hunter is gearing up for their multi-market debut at the next month. Chief Tap Hunter has been working relentlessly with help of , an experienced iPhone app developer to make the already cool service accessible from mobile device so that devoted beer lovers can catch their favorite brew while it's fresh on tap! Jeff and Chris invited us to take the app on a spin so we joined for couple beers at in San Diego.
I can't share the full details yet as it is not ready for full release but I was lucky enough to get the beta version set up on my phone. So with no further due, I give you screen shots of the Tap Hunter iPhone App!

My favorite mobile feature is the the Tap Hunter's Pick. Belly up at the bar, shake your iPhone and Tap Hunter will help you with a beer recommendation for you to enjoy! Nifty feature if you are feeling bit adventurous or simply want to try a different brew but you don't know where to start.
To be honest, the beta version seems to be working just fine (magical if you ask me) but Jeff and Chris have few more things brewing to enhance the productivity of the application. I can't wait for all of you to be able to have the power of Tap Hunter in the convenience of your pocket!
If you've got an iPhone, make sure you keep your eye out for .
Tap Hunter will be making it's big multi-market debut September 24-26, 2009, so make sure to ask your local beer bars and spread the word!
Thanks Jeff and Chris!

I was stoked to have a chance to try out this app yesterday. Pulling beer lists of the bars closest to my current location will be rad. I wish I could make it to the Great American Beer Festival but it’s too close to Burning Man for the budget this year.

Looks cool. I only have an iPod Touch, not an iPhone, however, and my wish for a lot of these apps is that they would store more info on the iPod so that I can use them even if I don’t have a WiFi connection. Will this app have any value when you are between internet connections?
Cheers,
@Uncle__Jimbo

Schweeeet…
What about having the option for a user to input what beers are on tap?
Also I would love an option where we could take notes on different types of beers and see others notes… So I guess leave comments about the different beers.
But awesome idea, and I will be using it this weekend.

Here’a another amazing app. It works with Rate Beer and has a GPS feature.
There are over 92,200 beer scores and over 100,000 beers in total!!!
Look up Beer Scores easily by typing in a beer or brewer name. Beer
scores are based on a scale from 0 to 5. We’ve also included the
Alcohol % By Volume for most beers. You can also see known beer
locations on a Google Map* **
Don’t have cell phone reception in a Bar or Pub? That’s no
problem….. This application doesn’t rely on a data connection for
beer scores. It’s built-in/offline database enables you to find
scores for beers anywhere, anytime.*
You can also save individual beers to your Favorites list. This list
can be emailed to any email address that you specify. It uses the
iPhone’s email application to send the list. This list also includes
a link to ratebeer.com’s website, which includes more information
about the beers.
You can also create your own lists, such as:
Beers to Try
Beers you have Tried
Beers I do not like
Beer recommendation for Carl and Angela
Future releases will allow you to update the offline database as well
as find locations that serve the beer you have searched for.
* Any links that provide additional information about a particular
beer from require data service. This can be provided
by your carrier’s data plan or wifi.
